Unmasking Our Best in 2020

By JACOBER CREATIVE

The election may be gone with the wind - though Georgia is still on our mind, vaccines against COVID are on the horizon and Zoom holidays are the best ones we've got, but at Jacober Creative, we've still been kicking ass and taking names (safely and thoughtfully, of course). Presented here are our best of the year accomplishments and successes as a design and marketing company.

Everything was up for grabs this year, whether it was Harry Styles in a dress on the cover of Vogue (the perfect clapback to 2020’s toxic masculinity), Javanka relocating to Miami (quelle horreur!), exchanging our signature Miami Air Kiss™ for the Queen's royal wave (preferrable), or finding new ways to support our under-represented communities (ongoing).

Rock the Boat

Yacht Rock takes on a whole different meaning when the captain is Palm Beach’s own Jon Bon Jovi. And that’s exactly who our target customer is after being selected in a very competitive bidding process to lead the branding and marketing for the Town of Palm Beach Marina. Undergoing a $36 Million facelift (the marina, not the rocker), with state-of-the-art technology and security, increased capacity for superyacht docking, and the most coveted zip code in Florida – our creative and marketing teams will be responsible for creating a new brand identity, marketing plan, and launch strategy for the uber-luxury marina.  Don’t mind us, we’re just trying to #MMGA (Make the Marina Great Again)!

Luxury Has A Destination

Of course, we are referencing the high-end luxury properties that are the mainstay of the Jills Zeder Group, and Miami itself as a place to buy into and live in, as evidenced by Tom Brady & Gisele Bündchen, Karlie Kloss & Josh Kushner, and yes, even Javanka. Formerly known as The Jills (you've seen their ubiquitous signs like, everywhere), they came to us to brand their new merger with the Zeder team. We created a new brand identity for them that depicts three stylized Royal Palm trees — symbols of fortitude, elegance, and Miami – and the three families of the luxury real estate team. Additionally, new brand colors of Royal Palm Teal, Sea Mint, with flickers of Rose Gold, tell a story of legacy, renewal, and distinction (as well as the perfect custom Birkin specifications).

Florida Logos designed by Jacober. Destin, Lake Placid, and Islamorada

Florida On Our Minds

At Jacober Creative we've developed quite the reach this year across the Sunshine State, becoming a go-to agency for Florida municipalities big and small. We created some more contemporary and engaging outdoorsy-themed branding for "never-flaccid-in" Lake Placid that leaned into its natural environmental assets. For Destin Beach's sophisticated family friendly beachtown, our new logo promoted it as a gem of the Emerald Coast with some subtle graphic flourishes. And for "heart-of-the-Keys" Islamorada, a sports fishing capital and generally one of our favorite places for a weekend getaway, we emphasized its Overseas Highway away-from-it-all feel, with a fresh, uncluttered design.

It’s Always Sunny In Sunny Isles

Even in the midst of the pandemic, we were able to kick off our yearlong brand development efforts for one of our newest clients, the City of Sunny Isles Beach. A South Florida (almost) hidden gem as a visitor destination and a family-friendly, upscale oceanfront community, the City of Sunny Isles is ready for its close-up! We did background research collecting that all-important data (we're good with that too), held focus groups (safely) and ran online surveys for stakeholders, residents, business owners and visitors. Next up will be our creative designs and proposed branding strategies just in time for a vaccine and the coming return-to-normal.

Peekaboo, We See You!

Our favorite healthy-leaning ice cream with the "hidden veggies" and an ongoing client, Peekaboo, took our advice and decided to use these COVID months to rebrand and refresh (part of our regular wellness routine at Jacober).  We created new and improved packaging, illustrations, color palettes and a redesigned website –  Peekaboo got a lighter, cooler look, targeting a younger, millennial demographic. With the company's CEO Jessica Levison appearing on Shark Tank this month, soon everyone will be scooping up our favorite dessert.

When Life Gives You Lemons

When life gives you lemons... rebrand! The pandemic might have put a crimp in lots of businesses and not-for-profits, and hit the brakes on our world, but at Jacober Creative we were not resting on our derrières. We posted a series of smart articles that summed up our innovative approaches to branding and design, with advice on how to turn the downturn into an opportunity. From our "You Love Your Logo, But Does It Love You Back?" to "Channel Your Inner Flamingo" we offered sagacious advice for weathering and overcoming the pandemic storm.

A Little Patter About Allapattah

From authentic Dominican eateries to contemporary art and vegan pizza, the spunky ready-for-its-closeup neighborhood of Allapattah, bordering Wynwood, has a lot to offer. We gave our followers an insider's virtual tour of our fave spots. We created some beautiful (we're so not modest) bespoke full color illustrations that capture the area's unique vibe.  And speaking of, the unique name Allapattah is actually derived from a Seminole Indian word that means “alligator.” The more you know...

Art Attack

This year has forced us to stretch and adapt in new and creative ways (or pull a muscle trying). With the cancellation of large-scale events, festivals, and most travel, this posed a unique predicament when it comes to the time of year that has put Miami on the art world map: Art Basel and Miami Art Week. While Art Basel cancelled its actual art fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center, there were still plenty of ways to get the creative juices flowing — both virtually and IRL. We put together a guide with virtual experiences and in-person exhibitions, coupled with some really clever graphics that imagined our favorite artists on a Zoom call, from Keith Haring to Frida Kahlo to Salvador Dali.

It’s A Dog's World

A Paws Nation, a new, high-end, direct-to-consumer "gourmet," dog treat start-up, hired us to create their first logo and branding strategies. Our cute-as-a-puppy illustrations were a perfect fit for their soon-to-launch brand targeting an international market of fashionable canine-lovers. Shout outs to our three favorite office paws-forward buddies Charlie, Bowie and Joey.
