The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science chose Jacober Creative after a competitive RFP process to help them launch and brand their new federally designated National Florida Coral Reef Center. They needed a compelling name that encapsulated all the educational and scientific programs and facilities that will make up the center. They also wanted a great logo, supporting design assets, mission and vision statements, and marketing and social media campaign strategies.
The name Frost Science chose, from a number of strong options we presented, was ReeFLorida, a clever merging of the two words that highlights the Florida focus. The defining and impactful tagline that we crafted was the National Coral Reef Conservancy at Frost Science. For the logo design we created a custom, hand-drawn nameplate, whose curvaceous, fluid lines suggest the undersea reefs, and include the fringe of a coral.
Bright colors echo ocean tonalities, the tropical feel of Miami, and a family-friendly approach. Supporting collateral showed how the logo and tagline, and related graphic assets, could be use on t-shirts, letterhead, signage and more.
We crafted sharp mission and vision statements that encompassed the key themes of sustainability, collaborative marine science, education and conservation of Florida's Coral Reef. A marketing campaign was built around the phrase ReefLECT, which implies the idea of Museum visitors reflecting on the coral's existing conditions, and ways to improve them, and incorporating the acronym of Leadership, Environment, Conservation & Teaching. A social media campaign that includes the brand rollout, with custom videos, illustrations and graphics, was also submitted.
