Cinco de Mayo is especially close to our hearts because we believe in winning great battles — against all odds. We embrace the fusion of cultures and ideas that help enrich our lives and make us better people. Plus we just love any reason for a good party (pass the margaritas please)!
To commemorate this day when the Mexican Army defeated the French Empire (c'est la vie ) we designed three Mexican inspired graphics that showcase what Cinco de Mayo means to Jacober: History (Dia de los Muertos), Nature (the sun) and Art (Frida Kahlo). Mexico’s tradition of great design goes back centuries, from the Aztecs to the more recent muralists such as Diego Rivera — so honoring that was on-brand for Jacober Creative.
Fun Fact: ironically Cinco de Mayo is celebrated primarily in the United States instead of Mexico, sometimes generating alcohol sales on par with the Superbowl (half-time anyone?). This success was created by advertising campaigns from the beer and wine industry, so yeah, branding has all kinds of impacts. While we honor our fellow Mexican brothers and sisters who fought and continue to fight (as well as our Mexican-American compatriots here in the U.S.), who doesn’t love a good excuse to enjoy a shot of tequila and celebrating the great design tradition of our neighbor down south. Bridges, not walls – we're all Mexican today!
